COSPPac2 Highlights – CliDE

Climate Data for the Environment (CliDE) and services client (CliDEsc) - CliDE and CliDEsc Archiving Meteorological Data and Developing Sector Specific Products. Climate Data for the Environment (CliDE) is a climate data management system used to archive Pacific meteorological data, it was first released in 2009 CliDE provides historical meteorological data that can be used to develop tailored services and information products to inform decision-making by governments, communities, and sector groups. CliDE and CliDEsc products and applications automate data analysis allowing for consistent and timely responses to user needs.


Highlights over COSPPac2 for the CliDE/CliDEsc project include:

  • Digitisation, archiving and quality control of meteorological data.

  • Cloud-based technology increased data security and accessibility, backups to the cloud take place everyday.

  • CliDEsc customised products assisted public health services and maximised renewable energy generation.


The 15 Pacific Island countries participating in the project are the Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.
